Jacquelyn Smith, PhD
Director of Unsheltered Services & Hope Heals
Dr. Smith was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She graduated high school from Phillis Wheatley High School and graduated from St. Philip’s College in 1986 with her Associates in Occupational Therapy. After attending Our Lady of The Lake University from 1999 to 2013, Dr. Smith obtained three degrees; Bachelors of Applied Studies, Masters In Healthcare Management, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Leadership Studies. She also obtained a certification as a Certified Life Coach and Section 8 Manager.
Dr. Smith has worked in non-profit, private, and the public sectors for over twenty-five years. In 1993, her journey working with clients living with disabilities began, which she feels was directed by God. Dr. Jacquelyn Smith then spent 10 years working at the San Antonio Housing Authority in Section 8. She lead the homeless services voucher programs and managed the waitlist. She was instrumental in moving the waitlist from paper to the electronic online process. She has worked with veterans and provided food assistance monthly and comfort items. Giving back, serving, and being an example to others is the key to her destiny.
Dr. Jacquelyn Smith has three daughters and four grandkids who mean the world to her. She enjoys reading, walking, and meditation. The SA Hope Center’s mission to love and empower people and meet their needs with wrap-around services inspired her to bring her experience & skills to the SA Hope Center. Dr. Smith does what she does because of her passion to serve and make a difference.
