One-on-One Mentoring

This vital program, holistically enhances the lives of individuals and families to become food secure and increasingly sustainable on a long-term basis.

The SA Hope Center program aims to help individuals and families suffering from chronic poverty. The program connects them with social workers, whom they call mentors, to work together and address the underlying causes of poverty. The mentors work with the program participants to create personalized goals that focus on their unique strengths, which help increase their physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Through this program, individuals are empowered to take positive steps towards achieving their goals of financial literacy, strengthening their family unit, career readiness, adult education, and overall wellness.

SA Hope Center Enrollment Requirements: 

  • Proof of family size (birth certificate, picture ID’s, or  last year’s tax forms)
  • Proof of Income – pay stubs or award letters

The first of its kind in Bexar County, our Mercadito allows the head-of-household to walk-through and shop (for free) the items that best fit their family size and nutritional needs. To shop in our Mercadito, current program participants are encouraged to make an appointment with their mentor.

The boutique allows the head of household to walk through and shop (for free) the items that best fit their size, style,  and household needs. To shop in our boutique current program participants are encouraged to make an appointment with their mentor.

Through our partnership with the Texas Diaper Bank, the SA Hope Center is able to provide diapers to participants who are participating in our parenting program. 

  • Emergency diaper assistance and adult diaper assistance is avilable upon request.

All SA Hope Center mentors are certified as Texas Navigators and can assist with acquiring Your Texas Benefits such as; SNAP, WIC food, Health Care, Support Services, and TANF Cash Help. 

  • If we are not available for assistance, you can visit this website HERE for additional locations that offer this assistance. 
  • Walk in services are available at our main location every Tuesday from 10 AM to 12 PM.

SA Hope Center in partnership with Christian Assistance Ministries (CAM) can help financially pay for ID and Birth Certificate Recovery after loss and displaced documents or recently released from an institution. 

  • Walk-in services are available at our main location from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. At the downtown/KRL location it is available Tuesdays & Tuesdays from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.
  • If we are not available for assistance, you can call 211 for additional locations that offer this assistance. 

Qualifying program participants can receive partial financial assistance for childcare services. Below are the requirements for assistance:

  • Participate in Parent Engagement Activities to include parenting courses. (monthly) 
  • Meet with Mentor. (monthly) 
    • Report ANY  changes in work or attendance at a job training or educational program 
    • Report ANY changes in family income, family size
    • Report ANY change in family residence, primary phone number, or e-mail  

Changes must be reported within  2 business days or during monthly meetings with the case manager, whichever comes first. 

  • Submit a Workforce Solutions Alamo (WSA) Child Care Services (CCS) application online or by calling (210) 230-6300.

Partial tuition assistance is available to families experiencing difficulties maintaining employment while paying for childcare services.  The scale below will be used to help determine a family’s weekly childcare tuition rate for one child. 

*All funds are given upon availability.

Our spiritual care services are available to active program participants and staff. It is led by Pastor Bob Escamilla, who has on-site appointments at all locations and is available to provide prayer, hospital visits, and funeral services as requested by program participants.
